Girls' Night (with Spirits)

Wine, Snacks, Deadly Secrets, and Sacred Truths

Rey, a Black millennial woman has a problem: her house has been taken over by a ghost with a strange obsession with her bathroom. Enter paranormal expert, the eccentric Estelle, who comes promising that a little wine, chocolate, and girl talk will help relieve the tension. But Estelle has secrets, the spirit is a mystery, and Rey struggles with a shameful secret as her house and herself begin to fall apart.

Of Girls’ Night (with Spirits), Teshonne says, “The story will carry themes like sisterhood, empowerment, and finding one’s strength to solve her own problems by centering herself. For me, this play and the characters therein are integral to exploring the mental and emotional issues Black women face within themselves. I want to explore what’s truly possible for Black women through elements of magic, the supernatural, and the future.”

Girls’ Night (with Spirits) will be available to stream “on demand” starting Friday, October 15, through Friday, November 5, 2021. Tickets are on sale now!

I am one of ten DC area playwrights to contribute writing to a film project produced by Arena Stage in Washington, DC.

Premiering on September 16 through Arena's Stage Supper Club, Arena Stage’s third film in four months, The 51st State, is inspired by the protests and the drive for the creation of a movement after the murder of George Floyd and the quest for the creation of the 51st state and sovereignty in Washington, D.C.

Feminine Folklore: Anything In Between

Feminine Folklore: Anything In Between

"In this installment of the shockingly real and hilarious devised theatre piece of Feminine Folklore, we are examining the theme of "Anything In Between" .In this topic we're exploring the taboos, assumptions, and stories about sex, marriage, dating and love from a range of Black women at various crossroads in their lives. This is an extremely interactive show and allows the audience to react and make their assumptions public.

The begging question is how can we create spaces that don't assume and judge women based on who and how they love. How can we dismantle chauvinistic ideas that equate a woman's worth to her mate or her relationship status? From married to polyamorous from straight to gender fluid. This show checks all the boxes for anything and everything in between."
